Key Takeaways
There’s no “perfect” decision — clarity comes through action, not overthinking.
You have the power to make any choice meaningful through intention and follow-through.
Growth happens when you stop chasing certainty and start trusting yourself.
Trust that each step forward will guide you toward what’s meant for you.
“Rather than waste your time being stressed over making the right decision, make the decision right.” – Ellen Langer
I love this quote. It’s one I come back to often — and share with many of my clients. It’s simple, yet it holds so much truth about how we move through life and the choices we make.
So many of us get caught in the cycle of trying to make the right decision. We analyze, overthink, ask everyone’s opinion, and play out every possible outcome in our minds. We tell ourselves that if we just think long enough, we’ll find the perfect answer. But the truth is — we can’t think our way into certainty.
Certainty comes from movement. From choosing, acting, and seeing what happens next.
Making the decision right isn’t about ignoring your intuition or being careless with your choices. It’s about trusting yourself enough to know that whatever you choose, you have the power to make it meaningful. It’s about putting your energy into what’s in front of you, instead of worrying about all the what-ifs that live in your head.
When you decide, you shift from thinking to creating. You move from fear into possibility.
Sometimes, the outcome isn’t what you expected — but even then, you gain clarity, experience, and a deeper understanding of what matters to you. Every decision becomes a step toward knowing yourself better.
If you often find yourself hesitating, ask:
What am I really afraid of — making a mistake, or facing what the decision might reveal?
What would change if I believed I could make any choice work?
How much energy am I spending on “getting it right,” instead of living?
The next time you’re faced with a decision, big or small, take a deep breath. Make your choice with intention. Then, commit to making it right — through how you show up, how you learn, and how you grow along the way.
Because the power isn’t in the decision — it’s in you.
Reflection Prompt
Think of a recent decision you’ve been struggling with. What would change if you focused less on choosing right and more on making it right? What would it look like to commit fully to your choice — to learn, adjust, and grow with it?
I hope this helps to bring you clarity and supports your personal journey forward.
